Ball games Feeling confident with a ball gives children access to so many activtiies as they grow older and whether we like it or not, many of these activities serve a social currency. Whether it be at school, university or in the world of work, having a sound grasp of fundamental ball skills can avoid emabarrassment and avoidance and promote enjoyable participation. Games for small spaces For children to meet the 60 minutes of daily activity recommendation, we need to have interesting activites to hand that they can play in a confined space, with or without adult intervention. These two suggestions allow children to access active play at home either in the garden or indoors. Going swimming Safety is the prime concern any time children are near water but with a few clear safety procedures in place, families can enjoy the water together allowing children to learn to swim at their own pace through guided play rather than instruction. At the beach Running, jumping, kicking, hitting, catching... the beach is an ideal venue for active kids to play.
