Active Kids home

Games for small spaces

For children to meet the 60 minutes of daily activity recommendation, we need to have interesting activites to hand that they can play in a confined space, with or without adult intervention. These two suggestions allow children to access active play at home either in the garden or indoors.

Skipping rope

Go for a rope with proper handles and NOT a plastic 'rope'. This is an old fashioned classic. Excellent way to develop cardiovascular fitness, have fun and learn new skills to improve co-ordination. Endless possibilities, solo or with friends. Learn new 'stunts' or encourage your child's school to enroll on the excellent Jump Rope for Heart Health programme by the British Heart Foundation

Where to get it

Too many outlets to list but remember rope size is important if your cjhild is to have success. If your child stands on the middle of the rope the handles should reach up to the top of his/her arms.

Wobble board

This physio tool makes for great fun with kids, and help them develop the most important of all physical assets - balance and core stability. Be creative - 'mum, can we play catch on the wobble board'

Where to get it
